My 2013 New Year's resolution is to get my camera off of auto mode so, I'm hoping, this project will be a way to stretch my photography and the way I look at the world around me.

It was so nice when we got home from work/school that we ran outside to get some sun time. Very nice. I'm sure this will be much of our summer.

People watching on the train after school/work.
Something happened on the train this morning and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. A father was on the train with his three young kids. I heard him tell one of the kids because she was acting up (she looked to be about 3), she didn't get to push the button to get off of the train. She started to cry. I heard him mention the button on the train a couple more times but I couldn't hear any other conversation. Then I realized he was arguing with a female passenger sitting by his kids. I thought maybe they were together but I couldn't hear what was being said. He got off at the next stop grumbling about someone trying to tell him how to raise his kids and she needed to mind her own business. I looked back at the woman that had been talking to him and she was crying. Now I have no idea what happened but she was really, really crying. I am torn because in a way I agree with him that she had no business jumping in but if she heard something I didn't, maybe it was a good thing she stood up for the kids. I just don't know. I hate that one of my first thoughts was wondering if the woman has kids. I would hate to think that every time I have to scold my 2-year-old, someone is going to question my handling of the situation. I have enough internal struggles to have to worry if someone is going to jump into situation. But, again, I couldn't hear everything being said and I'm sure she felt she was doing good for the kids. The question of when to insert yourself into a situation is a tough one.

So so so so pretty! The rose garden in Capitol Park is really interesting because it's right next to a main street downtown but once you get into the garden, you forget all of the traffic and the noise and the craziness. I love it.

Capitol Park is in bloom and so pretty. Now if the temp would just stay in the 80s, the flowers and I would be very happy. A girl can dream.

The start of our garden. I can not wait for the tomatoes. One of my favorite smells is cherry tomatoes off the vine. Yummmmm!

Poor sock! Turtle's daycare/preschool had crazy sock day so I had to go out and buy socks since none of the socks she had were "crazy." These were tighter than the socks she usually wears so it made her mad they didn't just slip off like her others.

Signed up for a long-term study on cancer prevention today. All it took was a questionnaire, some measurements, and a donation of blood and I could help save lives.

Turtle watching out the window of the train on our way home. It was interesting when I picked her up from school because one of her classmates must have heard me say something about riding the train and she ran over to ask me about it. She asked why we were riding the train so I told her we rode because it was fun. She said that her mom has a car so she doesn't have to ride the train. I told her that we don't have to ride the train but choose to. It just makes me wonder what her parents say about train riders. Ah kids.

Cool car at the Cesar Chavez March in Southside Park. It had, what looked to be, alligator covered seats!
Turtle has it all....Union purple, Minnie Mouse, Chavez sticker, American flag, and Molly the train. She is amazing!

Rainy day! I got to work early and it was raining so I headed straight to the rose garden (of course! Isn't that what everyone does in the rain?!). I had my purse, camera bag, lunch bag, and umbrella, and I had to try to keep it all dry while snapping some photos. At least it was worth it!

Fountain in the middle of the rose garden. I don't think I've ever seen the water running but it's still pretty.

This rose bush grew about 2 feet overnight so I could only see the bottoms of the roses but it made for a cool pic.

My fam for our annual family photo on Easter. The biggest change has been my sweet, little Turtle growing from a 4 month old to a big girl standing there on her own.
